By the time a learner reaches Level 4, something real is happening — they're no longer just sounding out simple words, they're beginning to crack the code of the English language itself.

This book builds directly on Levels 1 through 3, taking the student deeper into how letters and sounds actually work. Level 4 covers the full set of 44 speech sounds and the many different ways each can appear in written words — because English rarely makes it simple, and a confident reader needs to understand why. Students learn what happens when letters go silent, when two letters combine into a single sound, and how one letter can quietly change the sound of another.

A major focus of this level is breaking down longer words. Through clear, practical instruction on syllables, accents, prefixes and suffixes, learners gain real tools for approaching unfamiliar words rather than guessing or skipping over them. This is the kind of foundational knowledge that turns a struggling reader into a capable one.
